ENVIRONMENT Agency chief Sir John Harman was back home in Huddersfield last night, praising the recycling efforts of Kirklees Council.

Sir John and his fellow agency board members are holding a two-day meeting in the town.

They spent yesterday visiting sites including the eco-housing project at Primrose Hill and the energy from waste plant at Hillhouse.

Sir John, a former Kirklees Council leader, said: “Kirklees are far from ordinary when it comes to setting up and running such worthwhile projects as these.”

Last night he and other board members were joined by guests from across the region for a dinner at the Galpharm Stadium.

And it meant a reunion for many of those whose vision inspired the stadium, Sir John, former Kirklees Council officials Ken Gillespie and Dan Sequerra, former Huddersfield Town chairman Graham Leslie and former stadium chief executive Paul Fletcher.
