A GRANDFATHER has been appointed to a child protection body.
Mick Frost, 64, is the first lay member of Kirklees Safeguarding Children Board (KSCB).
The Meltham man will join the group, which includes representatives from the NHS, police, Kirklees Council and the NSPCC.
Mr Frost, who has two children and four grandchildren, said: “Holding a role like this had never crossed my mind until I saw the board’s advert to appoint a non-executive member.
“I was very impressed with the information they sent out and the more I read about the board’s work, the more interested I became.
“I can think of no more important issue than the welfare and safety of young people, so I’m privileged to become part of the board.”
KSCB chair Bron Sanders welcomed the appointment.
She said: “Mick will bring a wide range of skills and his commitment to this field of work was clear from the outset.
“We are sure he will be an excellent link between the board and the local community.”
