THE Tour de France is coming to Huddersfield!

The world's most watched sporting event will be in our area on Sunday, July 6, 2014.

The Tour, which will start from Leeds on July 5 will take in the Yorkshire Dales before finishing in Harrogate on day one.

Sunday's stage two starts in York and passes through Keighley and Huddersfield with Sheffield hosting the finish.

On Monday, July 7 the race will move down south with a start in Cambridge before travelling to London and finishing on The Mall.

Sunday's stage two which features Huddersfield has been announced as starting in York before passing through Knaresborough, Silsden, Keighley, Haworth and Hebden Bridge.

The race would then head into Elland, through Huddersfield and out up to Holmfirth before heading to Sheffield.

This could mean that cyclists race through Elland, up to Ainley Top roundabout, through the town centre and out to the Holme Valley.

Whether the racers will face Holme Moss has not been announced yet. A full route will be announced later this afternoon.
