A MAJOR conference is being planned to mark International Women’s Day.

The event takes place at Dewsbury Town Hall on March 17.

The theme for this year is inequality.

Despite the immense contribution made by women to the political, social and economic landscape of Britain, inequalities remain in society.

The Kirklees conference will address key issues and give women from different backgrounds the chance to come together and share insights.

Guest speakers will include Karen Moore of the Women’s Resource Centre, a charity that supports women’s organisations.

Beatrice Botomani, of the Bradford Refugee Forum and District Women’s Forum and representatives from the Southall Black Sisters group will also be speaking.

Workshops will focus on issues including poverty, domestic violence, offending, homelessness and finding hope through creativity.
