A TOWN legends team took on 200 youngsters in a match at Huddersfield’s Galpharm Stadium.

Huddersfield Town and bathrooms4all hosted the first ever match of its kind in front of more than 1,000 spectators at the stadium.

The Legends XI, included club ambassador Andy Booth and chairman Dean Hoyle as well as former players Chris Billy, Chris Holland and Simon Baldry.

To allow the kids a chance to get a touch of the ball they were split into two groups. The five to eight year olds played the first 30 minutes, and the nine to 12 year olds played the final 30.

Thanks to three penalties, which were all taken at the same time, the Kids led 6-3 at half time.

The Legends were first to strike in the second half but failed to score again and allowed the Kids to hit the back of the net on four more occasions, meaning the final score was 10-4!

Andy Booth said: “The Kids Match was a huge success; it was a great spectacle, and an honour to be part of the first ever Kids v Adults match to be held in the United Kingdom.

“It was all about the kids, and to let them play on the pitch where they see their heroes play week in week out must have been a very special moment for them. From a playing point of view, I barely managed to get a touch of the ball!”
