FAMOUS people connected with Dewsbury are to be featured in a major exhibition.
The Dewsbury Greats event will be staged in the Town Hall for five days from this Saturday.
It will be open for viewing from 10am to 3pm each day and admission free.
The notable names include actors Patrick Stewart and Anthony Newley, former Commons Speaker Baronesses Betty Boothroyd, rugby league legend Mike Stephenson, cross-Channel swimmer Eileen Fenton and Wallace Hartley, the bandleader on the Titanic as it went down.
Dewsbury’s two Victoria Cross winners, Pte Horace Waller and Sgt John William Ormsby, will also be featured.
Clr Liz Smaje, Kirklees Cabinet’s member for leisure and neighbourhood services, said: “These individuals come from the worlds of entertainment, literature, sport, business and politics.

The exhibition will be opened by Eileen Fenton at 10.30am on Saturday.
The exhibition will be at the Town Hall until Wednesday.
It will then be displayed at Dewsbury Library on Dewsbury Retail Park, Railway Street, from Saturday, October 25, until Saturday, December 20.
