BRIGHOUSE historian Ralph Wade has died, aged 92.
His work in greengrocery and the textile trade put him in touch with a vast fund of untold stories.
Mr Wade wrote about Brighouse townspeople and places under the pen name Rowan.
He was a churchwarden at St Matthew's, Rastrick, for a long time.
Mr Wade leaves his wife, Gladys, and daughter Linda.
He had two grandchildren and a great-grandson.
He began creative writing with Huddersfield Authors' Circle. He was also a member of Huddersfield Army Veterans' Association.
His funeral was being held at St Matthew's today.
