STAFF at a Huddersfield travel shop are packing a suitcase of presents for needy youngsters this Christmas.

Customers and passers-by are being urged to donate unwanted toys for Santa's Suitcase at the John William Street branch of Travelcare.

Items collected will be handed to the National Children's Centre at Brian Jackson House, New North Parade, to be gift-wrapped and distributed to brighten Christmas for deprived youngsters.

Branch manager Maria Haigh said: "Christmas is a time for giving and for spreading cheer and joy.

"We're asking customers, the public and other businesses to help us celebrate by bringing cheer to a deserving local child who may be sick or less fortunate than other children."

The appeal runs until November 19 at Travelcare, which is part of the Co-operative Group
