EMLEY couple Pat and Jim Ainsworth have raised £6,000 for charity with a gruelling 100km trek in New Zealand.

And they got some celebrity help along the way.

The fundraising couple accepted the challenge to walk the Abel Tasman Way, in New Zealand's South Island to raise funds for the Children's Society.

They were joined on the 10-day journey by Linda Robson, better known as Tracey Stubbs from TV sitcom Birds of A Feather.

The couple said that Linda's "down to earth humour" helped keep their spirits up as they trekked through gruelling terrain.

Mrs Ainsworth said: "The conditions didn't stop her putting her best foot forward - even if both feet were covered in blisters!"

The couple have previously raised £5,000 for Imperial Cancer Research with a 60-mile Himalayan walk.
