A paraglider died after crash landing at a beauty spot above Marsden yesterday.

The accident happened at 2pm at Buckstones Edge off New Hey Road.

Firefighters police, paramdedics and members of Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team were called out to rescue the man but he  was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor.

The spot is popular with paragliders and hanggliders who launch off the crags next to the main car-park to fly over March Haigh Valley.

The glider launched during what was believed to be perfect conditions, but got into some difficulty and crashed into rocks below.
