A BIKER killed in a crash in Lockwood was a 27-year-old man who worked on a farm near Holme Moss.

Alexander Marcos Prosser, who lives in Stockport, was on his way to work when the crash involving a lorry from Huddersfield courier firm Pink Link happened at 8.20am yesterday.

He died at the scene on Meltham Road, near Park Valley Mills.

Mr Prosser is a graduate from Huddersfield University and had travelled abroad, recently spending six months farming in New Zealand.

He was a single man and has three brothers.

Police have now appealed for witnesses to the tragedy.

Mr Prosser was riding a blue 600cc Suzuki which was in collision with the lorry. A blue and white Transit pick-up van was also involved. The Transit and the motorcycle were travelling from Lockwood towards Netherton and the lorry was coming the other way.

Police have also appealed for witnesses to another accident nearby about 25 minutes later.

That shunt involved four cars - a Vauxhall Astra, a Ford Focus, a BMW X3 and a Mercedes - on Meltham Road in Lockwood at its junction with Armitage Road.

An 80-year-old man driving the Astra and his 71-year-old wife were both taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for treatment.

They live in Holmfirth and were not badly hurt.

A 29-year-old woman driving the BMW and her passenger, a 50-year-old man, also needed hospital treatment.

They both come from Netherton.
