THE WOMAN who has been caring for tragic Dawn Auty has died from a heart attack.

Dawn, formerly from Huddersfield, hit the headlines when she lost both her legs in an horrific trike accident as she was on the way to church on her wedding day. She has since split up from her finance.

Her carer, Avril Sart, died on Tuesday at Dawn's Blackpool home.

Eddie Furness, of Thomas Street, Lindley, a close friend of Dawn's, said: "She was a friend who used to help look after the dog.

"They met in Blackpool and we all used to used to go out singing karaoke.

"She was a big woman and Dawn said she could not get upstairs to help her when Avril collapsed."

Mr Furness said: "I spoke to her last night.

"She's OK. She's going to get her legs fitted soon.

"We were talking about an electric wheelchair but she said there was no point as she was not going to be in a chair for long."

Mr Furniss said that Dawn, 42, formerly of Marsh, had a hospital appointment for prosthetic legs.

"It's happening soon.

"She is planning to walk again," he said.

He revealed that, for the new year, Dawn was taken out to a hotel and treated like royalty.

"She had a good new year," he added.

"She said it could not be any worse than last year's."
