If only it was usually this quick!
This video shows the entire train journey from London back up north as you’ve never seen it before.
The Virgin train service carries passengers between Manchester and the capital in two hours and eight minutes.
But this fascinating time lapse video, which was filmed from the driver’s cab in a Pendolino train, shows what the journey would look like in just four and a half minutes.
The hypnotic footage captures the full 160 mile journey up the West Coast Mainline, from London Euston to Manchester Picadilly.
The film shows the train speeding along at top speeds of 125mph though the English countryside, passing through stations at Milton Keynes, Rugby, Stoke on Trent, Macclesfield and Stockport.
The rail operator created the video for the Manchester Evening News to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
Richard Stanton from Virgin Trains said: “We get a lot of requests from people who want to see what the journey looks like from the driver’s point of view, so we did this to say thank you to our customers as we celebrate 20 years.
“Things are very different to how they were in 1997, now we have more services and the journey is about 20 minutes shorter than it was back then.”
