A NEW series of training courses for would-be builders is to be launched.

‘build’ Kirklees, in partnership with Calderdale College, is offering unemployed Kirklees residents the opportunity to build a future in construction.

The project will recruit trainees for a diploma level 1 brickwork course which provides the skills and experience required to move on to an advanced qualification before finding employment in the construction and related industries.

The course is free for young people aged 16-18 not in education, employment or training and adults aged 19 and over who are in receipt of employment related benefits.

The course will run for 29 weeks at Build Academy, Beck Road, Huddersfield on a Wednesday and Thursday from the end of January.

Trainees will take part in practical workshops in brickwork, meet new people and be taught by industry experienced professional tutors who will support students to gain the confidence they need to work in construction.

No previous qualifications or experience are required. Trainees are expected to show commitment to complete the course and attend the recruitment event on time.

There will be a recruitment event on January 10 at 2pm (prompt) at ‘build’ Unit 14, Ringway Industrial Estate, Beck Road, with interviews on January 16 and 17.

Anyone who is interested in attending the event or finding out more about the course should contact Priti Gohil, on 07812 586460.
