GOLDEN smiles from Marsh couple Trevor and Jeanne Sykes, who celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary today.
The couple, who live in Jim Lane, are celebrating with their son at his Warrington home. They also have three grandchildren.
They married at Christ Church, Woodhouse, after meeting at Stanley Attack’s dance hall in Queensgate.
Mrs Sykes worked as a mender for six years. Mr Sykes, also 69, started work as a British Rail locomotive fireman in Mirfield. He was then called up for National Service and spent two years with the Duke of Wellington’s regiment in Kenya.
After being demobbed he worked for a short period at Brook Motors and then spent 26 years at Holset Engineering as a foreman. He then worked for nine years at Rensburg Stockbrokers, formerly of Fenay Bridge, as an office services assistant from where he retired.
Mr Sykes is a keen crown green bowler.
