A HOLME Valley man is to appear on a local history programme tonight.

Trevor Sanderson, 71, of Hepworth, a former textile foreman and market trader, is to appear on The Way We Were, at 7.30pm on YTV.

Mr Sanderson, of Hepworth Crescent, was contacted by researchers for the show because of his friendship with Kathleen Lockwood, a local photographer who died several years ago.

Miss Lockwood taught him at Hepworth Junior and Infant School and Mr Sanderson went on to become chairman of the school's governors for 20 years.

The programme will include cine footage of Holmfirth taken by Miss Lockwood during the Second World War.

Mr Sanderson said: "I see this programme as a tribute to Miss Lockwood, for the film archives she has made available to us of life in the Holme Valley in the 1930s and 1940s.

"She made a tremendous contribution to the history of the community," he added.
