A TRIATHLON is to be staged in Huddersfield.
Kirklees Active Leisure (KAL) is supporting the West Yorkshire Police Triathlon Section by hosting the Scissett Triathlon at Scissett Baths and Fitness Centre on June 10.
The Triathlon involves a pool swim, bike ride on the open road and a run.
The event is suitable for a first time triathlon goers.
The event begins with a 400m swim at Scissett Baths and Fitness Centre. The pool is not 25m so it will be 18 lengths covering a total distance of 412m. The cycle ride will be 16km which is a little short of the standard 20km distance. The distance is reduced for safety reasons.
Finally the run will be 4.5km and the route follows the track behind the swimming pool leading into Skelmanthorpe village before returning along the cycle course.
In the countdown to London 2012 KAL are running their own Games which include 10 of the 26 sports featured in the London 2012 Olympics.
