A CELEBRATION of the 150th anniversary of one of Huddersfield’s most important architects takes place in one of his best known buildings.

The Edgar Wood Heritage Group will hold a tribute to the man behind Lindley Clock Tower and Banney Royd at Lindley Methodist Church on September 10 (10am-4pm).

Manchester-born Mr Wood designed and built an extension to the church which will host a photo exhibition of his other buildings on the day.

The event includes guided walks of Lindley which has several of Wood’s buildings.

This year is the 150th anniversary of Mr Wood’s birth and to celebrate, the society will be hosting a collection of his paintings and artwork at Huddersfield Art Gallery on September 18.

Kirklees Council will be opening Lindley Clock Tower on September 11 and 12 (8.30am-5pm).
