A CONMAN has taken £100 from an elderly man after bullying him over compost.

The man had been to the homes of several elderly people in the Marsh area on Wednesday and put compost on their drive or close to their door.

He then knocked on the doors and told the bemused victims they had ordered it and tried to intimidate them into paying £100.

One man did pay up to get rid of him.

Now police are eager to hear from anyone else who has been approached by the trickster.

Det Con Russ Conlon, of Kirklees CID intelligence unit, said: "We know the man called at the homes of elderly people in Broomfield Road and Dingle Road.

"But he may have been elsewhere too and been turned away.

"We need to speak urgently to people who have seen him, spoken to him or noticed the kind of vehicle he was driving."
