GREEN travellers are being hit by a spate of cycle thefts.

Police are investigating increased reports of cycles being stolen from railway stations in West Yorkshire, including Huddersfield.

The bikes have been left by passengers using trains on the regional network.

Now British Transport Police officers are calling on members of the public to help them trap the thieves.

Insp Granville Sellers said: “Officers investigating each of these cases have followed multiple lines of enquiry and circulated these images on police intelligence systems to try and get names for these people, but to no avail so far.

“We’re now asking for help from members of the public to identify them. If you know any of these people and can tell us who they are, we want to hear from you.”

The Huddersfield CCTV image shows a man suspected of taking a cycle from the bike sheds.

Since April 2011, 12 people have been arrested by British Transport Police in West Yorkshire in connection with cycle theft.
