GUIDED bus tours of Mirfield will take place on the town's big show day.

Passengers can see sites including Star Trek actor Patrick Stewart's birthplace and the spot where Robin Hood shot his last arrow.

On the bus a guide will point out the places of interest.

Other sites which will be visited include the former Roe Head school, where author Charlotte Bronte taught, and the Dumb Steeple at Cooper Bridge, a meeting place for Luddites.

The tours are being organised to coincide with the Mirfield Agricultural Show on Sunday, August 22.

People can travel on the bus if they have a show programme, or they can buy one on the bus.

The bus tours were the idea of Imelda Marsden, of Mirfield Civic Society.

She said: "The show day is an ideal opportunity for Mirfield people to get to know a little about the history of the town and see some important landmarks."

The bus will leave the Huddersfield Road showground at 12.30pm and then every hour until 3.30pm.
