A WOMAN had to be cut free from her car after a collision in Cleckheaton.

Firefighters from Cleckheaton, Brighouse and Odsal attended the scene of the two-car smash at the junction of Moorside and Halifax Road.

The roof of the woman’s Citreon Saxo had to be removed by specialist cutting equipment before she could be removed from the vehicle.

She was treated at the scene for suspected neck or spinal injuries and was placed on a back board before being taken to Dewsbury District General Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the second car, a Fiat Punto was uninjured.

The collision happened at 9.15pm on Monday evening.
