CARTOONIST and painter Barry Pickersgill will be appearing at the Harrison Lord Gallery, Brighouse.

Barry, best known for cartoons which appeared on TV in the 1970s and 80s, will be showcasing his City Lights and Country Smiles collection on Saturday, March 12.

The collection is a mixture of paintings of rainy Yorkshire towns and cities together with tongue-in-cheek depictions of Yorkshire Dales folk.

Barry’s cartoons appeared on programmes including Countdown, The Tube and 321.

Pickersgill, of Wetherby, painted commissioned caricatures of famous people including England cricketers, a champion boxer, a major merchant bank and a former Prime Minister.

The free exhibition runs for four weeks.
