TV PRESENTER Matt Baker stepped into the shoes of Holmfirth’s film pioneer, James Bamforth.

The star was in the town earlier this week filming a segment on the film maker for TV programme Countryfile.

On Twitter Matt wrote: “Filming Countryfile in Holmfirth today, donned a flat cap and fake moustache to shoot a silent movie now onto picture house.”

He later added: “Travelling to Strictly tour with a rhubarb muffin made by Simon Rimmer! (a TV chef). Holmfirth was fun.”

A spokeswoman for BBC’s Countryfile said: “We were filming an item on James Bamforth, an early film pioneer, who made movies in this area before the First World War.”

James Bamforth started in 1870 as a photographer and began producing magic lantern slides in about1883, before moving into moving pictures.

Matt travelled to Holmfirth from Manchester, where he was starring in the Strictly Come Dancing live tour.

Countryfile, featuring Matt in Holmfirth, will be shown on Sunday, February 20.
