THEY are used to helping with the day to day organisation and running of their own schools.
But children from Paddock Junior and Infant and St John’s CE Junior and Infant school in Golcar are travelling to the national corridors of power tomorrow.
Thirty four school council members from both schools along with headteachers Richard Dodd and Kathryn Benford and six members of staff are travelling by train to the capital.
They will be taking part in a sightseeing bus tour, visiting Whitehall, 10 Downing Street and a tour of the palace of Westminster including the House of Commons and House of Lords. They will be shown around by a local MP.
The visit is part of a six-year twinning project between the two schools which has seen them having school council, governor and class swops.
It has also helped them develop firm friendships and an understanding of the very different communities in which they live.
School councils learn about citizenship and democracy as part of personal, social, citizenship and health (PSCHE) projects in school.
