TWO men have appeared in court charged with stealing cable from a railway line.
Gheorghe Pongori, 25, and Ioan Singerean, 24, were before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.
The Romanian-born men are accused of trespassing on the lines in Dewsbury and stealing £500-worth of Network Rail cable between October 1 and October 4.
Singerean, of Grosvenor Street in Dewsbury, faces only the two charges.
Pongori, of William Street, Ravensthorpe, is accused of further charges of trespassing and stealing £200 worth of cable from the line at Hall Lane on September 3.
Magistrates were asked to adjourn the men’s case to allow for an interpreter to attend court in relation to their paperwork.
Magistrates agreed to adjourn the case until November 13.
