TWO men were arrested on suspicion of stealing more than £6,000 of lead from a school roof.

The pair, aged 21 and 23, were held after piles of lead were found in the grounds of Heckmondwike Grammar School on Saturday. Police had been called just before midnight by a member of the public. When they arrived, two men with dirty clothes and hands were walking up the road outside the school. After being arrested, one was found with the key to a VW Golf parked behind the school. The pair were later released on bail pending further inquiries.
