TWO men are being questioned this morning over alleged animal cruelty which cause a horse to die.

Police were called to fields near Kilroyd Drive, Cleckheaton at about 1.10pm on Saturday and found the animal had died.

Officers are investigating after reports two men  chased the horse around the fields in a white Mitsubishi 4x4 before allegedly dragging it behind the moving vehicle until it collapsed and died.

Two men were arrested by Kirklees Police and remain in custody.

A post mortem will now be conducted to determine the cause of death of the animal and officers have notified the RSPCA  who are leading the investigation.
