FIFTEEN people, including two from West Yorkshire, have appeared in court charged in connection with an inquiry into an alleged conspiracy to corruptly obtain driving licences.

All the defendants, aged 25-54 and from London, Manchester, Leicestershire and West Yorkshire, were granted unconditional bail following a brief hearing at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court.

No pleas were taken from the 11 men and four women.

They were charged following a joint investigation between Warwickshire Police and the Driving Standards Agency.

The defendants included Asiya Sidat, 34, and Mahmad Sidat, 32, both of Broomsdale Road, Batley.

The inquiry, which focused on a driving test centre in Nuneaton, led to 39 people having their licences revoked.
