TWO men have been charged in connection with a robbery when a shopkeeper was sprayed with pepper spray.

Longwood shopkeeper Ravinder Singh, 25, was plunged into a state of confusion and panic when the masked robber sprayed her in the face.

The nasty attack happened at around 10.45am on Monday at The Metro Express newsagents in Thornhill Road, Longwood.

Police yesterday arrested two local men from the Huddersfield area aged 19 and 25 in connection with the incident.

Both have now been charged the 19-year-old on suspicion of attempted robbery and the 25-year-old on suspicion of attempted robbery and assisting an offender.

Both were bailed to appear before Huddersfield Magistrates.
