TWO people were last night charged with the attempted murder of a woman in Huddersfield.

A man and a youth are due to appear before Huddersfield magistrates today in connection with the alleged attack on the 27-year-old victim.

And both have also been charged with kidnap.

The charges were laid last night against a 25-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, both from Huddersfield.

The 25-year-old man has also been charged with possession of a weapon for discharge of electrical incapacitant, thought to be a Taser or a stun gun.

Both have been remanded in police custody to appear before Huddersfield Magistrates’ Court later today.

News of the charges came after police spent more than 40 hours investigating the alleged attack on the woman.

The drama began at 12.08am on Sunday morning, when police officers received a call from a motorist who had found the woman in a dishevelled state near to the Woodsome Hall Golf Club, Fenay Bridge.

Police established that she had been taken to the woodland from a house in Penistone Road, less than two miles away.

She was injured but not seriously.

It is believed she had been carried to and from a car in a large cardboard box.

Throughout Sunday and much of yesterday, police and forensic officers scoured the woodland at Woodsome Hall and also carried out a minute search of the large detached house in Penistone Road.

Detectives made four arrests on Sunday, including the 25-year-old and the teenager.

A man aged 49 and a woman aged 46, who were also arrested in connection with the investigation, have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Last night, detectives were continuing their appeal for information.

They would particularly like to speak to anyone who was driving along Woodsome Road after 11pm on Saturday and just after midnight.

They would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen a Vauxhall Astra near to the golf club that same night.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the enquiry team on 01484 436664 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
