Two men were arrested in Huddersfield today after an attack on a pensioner.

The pair, aged 23 and 24, were held this morning by detectives investigating the incident at the home of an 81-year-old woman in Salendine Nook.

She was allegedly subjected to what police called “despicable” violence when three men burst into her home in New Hey Road on Monday afternoon.

An amount of jewellery was stolen.

A police spokesman said: “The two men were arrested on suspicion of robbery and are currently in custody.”
