TWO men have been arrested over a bank robbery in Brighouse.

And police have revealed they are linking the raid by a lone axeman to a similar robbery less than five months ago.

The 35 and 37-year-olds are in custody following the incident at the Bradford and Bingley on Commercial Street at 11am on Thursday.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “A lone man with an axe entered the bank, and stole thousands of pounds. No-one was injured.

“We are treating this incident as connected to a previous incident at the bank.”

The same branch was targeted on April 14, when a masked man armed with a machete threatened staff and got away with about £1,000.
