Two machete attacks took place in a 12-hour period in Huddersfield police revealed today (Saturday).

The first one occurred at 11.50pm on Friday when police came across a disturbance on Bradford Road, Huddersfield.

A group of men were attacking a 42-year-old man.

He suffered injuries to his back, head and hands and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Two men aged 46 and 48 were arrested at the scene.

In an unconnected incident police were called by the ambulance service at 10.25am today (Saturday).

A 32-year-old man had been attacked with a machete in Garforth Street, resulting in injuries to his shoulder.

Police say this incident is believed to be linked to an earlier disturbance and enquiries are ongoing.
