Two men are still being questioned by police after shots were fired in Dalton on Tuesday.

The men, aged 18 and 20, from Huddersfield, have both been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply.

Detectives have now recovered two further vehicles believed to have been involved in the incident.

A silver Rover 25 was found burnt out on Newhouse Road at Sheepridge, Huddersfield and a maroon Hyundai Elantra was found intact on Alandale Road at Bradley, Huddersfield.

Both were recovered on Wednesday.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who has seen these vehicles in the vicinity of the incident.

Det Chief Insp Richard Holmes, of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who has seen either of these vehicles in the area of Holays and Harpe Inge around 3pm on Tuesday.

The Hyundai was found at the rear of garages off Alandale Road at Bradley and the Rover on Newhouse Road at Sheepridge with the Rover burnt out after being abandoned.

“We are interested in speaking to anyone who has seen these vehicles being parked up or anyone behaving suspiciously in these areas.”
