TWO elderly people are tonight being treated for serious injuries following a crash in Scissett.

The pensioners both received serious injuries when their Renault Clio was involved in a collision with a Land rover at 4.10pm outside the Riverside Business Park on Wakefield Road, Scissett.

Both were trapped inside the car and had to be cut out of the vehicle by firefighters.

Firefighters from Skelmanthorpe, Ossett and Wakefield were at the scene from  4.10pm until 6pm.

Police closed the road off to traffic while they investigated the incident and it meant buses running through Scissett had to be diverted around Clayton West.
