A shameful weekend of violence across Huddersfield saw two machete attacks and a nightclub stabbing take place in the town.

At 3am today (Sunday) an 18-year-old man was stabbed in the face and a 21-year-old man stabbed in the groin in an attack at Tokyo nightclub in Queen Street.

And that followed two terrifying attacks on men in the street in parts of Huddersfield.

Det Insp George Bardell of Kirklees CID is leading the inquiry into the nightclub attack and said: “We don’t know the motive for the attack.

“A group of suspects fled the club and four of them were sighted on CCTV exiting the premises sharpish.

“Both the victims were taken to hospital and the 18-year-old has now been discharged.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or knows anything about what led up to it should contact Det Sgt Damien Roebuck.”

The first of the machete attacks occurred at 11.50pm on Friday when police came across a disturbance on Bradford Road, Huddersfield.

The incident happened close to the Texaco filling station at the junction with Alder Street.

A group of men were attacking a 42-year-old man.

He suffered injuries to his back, head and hands and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary and detectives are hoping to speak to him today (Sunday), when he is expected to be released from hospital.

Two men aged 46 and 48 who were arrested at the scene have been bailed and enquiries are ongoing.

Just hours later, in an unconnected incident, police were called by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to a house in Garforth Street, Aspley.

They arrived at 10.25am on Saturday morning to discover a 32-year-old man had been attacked with a machete leaving him with injuries to his shoulder.

He was detained in hospital.

Police say the incident is linked to an earlier disturbance and they are still searching for the suspect who is known to them.
