PLANS for a £6m scheme for two new swimming pools are being discussed by Calderdale Council today.

Details of the new facilities in Brighouse and Sowerby Bridge will be scrutinised by the council’s cabinet this evening.

The council allocated £6m to build the six-lane 25m pools earlier this year.

Contractors Wilmott Dixon have been appointed and the architects, mechanical and engineering team, structural and quantity surveyors will be in place by the end of the month.

A public consultation exercise has also begun.

Suggestions include separate learner pools, a cafe, family changing cubicles, a gym, on-site parking and play facilities.

All the feedback will be passed on to the design team.

The designs will then be put out for public consultation in the New Year.
