Two teenagers were stabbed in Salendine Nook.
Both are recovering but one is still detained in hospital.
He has been transferred for specialist treatment.
Both youths suffered stab wounds on Saturday night in what police believe was a targeted attack.
Now detectives are appealing for information following the incident which occurred between 8.10pm and 8.15pm in Pennine Crescent.
The two teenagers were with another friend when a group of four to five people approached them from the New Hey Road direction and assaulted them.
Both the injured boys, aged 17 and 18, required hospital treatment.
The 17-year-old boy was transferred to a Sheffield hospital and he is continuing to receive treatment for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Det Insp George Bardell of Kirklees CID said detectives were trawling through CCTV footage in the area as part of a major inquiry.
He added that they had not had chance to speak to the young man who is still in hospital yet.
Det Con Oliver Coates, of Kirklees District CID, said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation and are still establishing the circumstances of how these two young males have come to receive these injuries.
“From our initial enquiries, we understand this to be a targeted attack.
“I would urge anyone who was in the area who witnessed any part of this offence or anyone with information about the people responsible to please call Kirklees District CID via 101, quoting log 1394 of 9 Jan.”
