UNEMPLOYED people interested in becoming bricklayers are invited to attend a free event.

Kirklees Council is offering a brickwork training session at 2pm on Friday, May 20, at Unit 2, Beck Road, Huddersfield.

The session is designed to recruit people for a brickwork course starting in June which will lead to a diploma level 1 qualification.

Clr Peter McBride, Cabinet member for regeneration, said: “This project matches people to the qualifications and jobs that are needed in the local area which will help to secure a sustainable future for local businesses and people.

“Kirklees Council is delighted to be offering another course through Calderdale College.”

The ‘build’ project has been helping local people gain skills, qualifications and employment in the construction industry since 2004.

All unemployed Kirklees residents aged 16 or over are eligible to apply.
