A 25-YEAR-OLD Edgerton man has been told he faces a prison sentence after he admitted stealing a DVD player during a burglary at Huddersfield University last summer.

Stephen James Fill, of Woodfield Court, pleaded guilty at Bradford Crown Court to burgling a building on the campus last July. He also admitted charges of common assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm relating to two men who tried to detain him.

Lawyer Neil Murphy conceded that his client had an unenviable record for previous convictions which included offences of violence, dishonesty and burglary.

Judge Peter Benson indicated that a prison sentence appeared inevitable but he agreed to adjourn Fill's case until March 1.

The judge granted Fill bail but he is now banned from entering any educational building.
