PHARMACY students at the University of Huddersfield have been working hard to encourage people in the town to live a healthier lifestyle.
The students have been busy promoting the range of free services offered by six local pharmacies under the Healthy Living Pharmacies (HLP) initiative.
Under the scheme, members of the public will be able to call in at their local Healthy Living Pharmacy for services covering everything from a medicine user review to advice on stopping smoking and even on emergency contraception.
And on most occasions, there will be no need to book an appointment.
The University’s four-year Master of Pharmacy degree is accredited by the General Pharmaceutical Council and leading the student volunteers in the HLP promotion is fellow pharmacy student Calum Plenderleith.
“We have really enjoyed taking part,” said Calum.
The current Healthy Living Pharmacies in Kirklees are: Boots, King Street, Huddersfield; Superdrug, Princess Alexandra Walk; Boots UK, Great Northern Retail Park, Leeds Road; Asda In Store Pharmacy, Mill Street West, Dewsbury; Shah’s Chemist, Valley Road, Liversedge; Batley Pharmacy, Upper Commercial Street.
