Finale time at college

A CONTEMPORARY music school is holding what could be its last event at Bretton Hall College.

The Coma contemporary music school has held summer courses for instrumentalists, singers and composers at the college near Wakefield for several years.

But Leeds University is closing and selling the campus - used for design, music and performance - in 2007.

Bretton Hall, founded in 1949, will be replaced with a £1.5m centre near the university's city centre campus.

Coma will be holding intensive courses at Bretton Hall between July 23 and 28. The courses will feature a daily timetable of workshops, orchestral rehearsals, three concerts a day and masterclasses from professional musicians.

Fees for the classes are on a daily or residential (full board) basis.

A daily fee costs £150 for the six days, or £115 for concessions and £95 for full-time students on a bursary place.

A residential fee is £390 (£345 for concessions or £295 for bursary students). The deadline for applications for bursaries is April 22.
