A GROUP which aims to spearhead local businesses in the Colne Valley was being launched today.
Local businesses are being invited to register their support for the group at the launch in Marsden Mechanics Hall.
Dave Parnell, creative director of The Design Mechanics, said many small businesses were choosing the Colne Valley, building on its industrial heritage and using the existing space in its various mills and historic buildings.
He added: “It’s not just larger businesses that are thriving in the Colne Valley.
“There is that weavers’ mentality, where hundreds of businesses are run out of people’s spare bedroom, attics and garages.
“There’s a great network of small and medium enterprises in the valley. You can find everything from publishing companies to industrial manufacturers all hidden in the most unassuming places!”
Mr Parnell is spearheading the group of local business who are looking to launch a Colne Valley business association to promote cross-trading and build business relationships in the valley.
