ARSONISTS have caused up to £25,000 damage in an attack on a bowling club.
Two fires were started inside the bowling pavilion at Linthwaite Cricket and Bowling Club on Manchester Road, Linthwaite, at 2.45pm yesterday.
Two youths were seen fleeing when smoke was spotted coming out of the building.
Firefighters from Slaithwaite and Huddersfield doused the flames in a lounge and bar area.
The fire came just hours after the club was raided by burglars on Sunday night and the damage from that was repaired yesterday morning.
A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "The actual fires were confined to part of the lounge and behind a small bar, but the clubhouse was smoke-damaged.
"Luckily internal doors were locked or it could have been worse."
The intruders had forced a door to get in.
