Game show contestant James Robinson vowed to carry on quizzing after making a little piece of history on Eggheads on Tuesday night.

James, 27, of Mirfield, led Quiz Family Robinson to within a whisker of victory and a £13,000 jackpot on the popular BBC2 quiz show.

James, dad John and teammates Richard Priest, Ryan Taylor and Steve Ball all reached the final round.

They became only the 10th team in the 12-year history of the show to get everyone through to the final.

However, Egghead David Rainford was in blinding form and finished them off in crushing style .

Rainford, known as Tremendous Knowledge Dave, won £250,000 on Who Wants to be a Millionaire in 2005.

James, who has appeared on Countdown, Pointless, Breakaway, Mastermind and Fifteen to One in the past , said the experience had spurred him on.

“Without doubt it was one of the most enjoyable things I’ve done.” he said.

“We travelled to the filming in Glasgow more in hope than expectation but the experience is something I’ll never forget.

“The Eggheads were absolutely delightful. I had actually chatted to David a few days earlier saying that I was looking forward to meeting him and giving him a great game.

“In a way it’s quite appropriate our run was ended by him, showing the true Eggheads spirit .

“We might have lost the £13,000 but I’ll take plenty of brilliant memories from my latest adventure."
