A CROSLAND Moor vicar has retired at the age of 70 after his last service at the weekend.

Canon Michael Storey, Vicar of Crosland Moor, has been based at St Barnabas' Church since 1987.

He's the oldest serving stipendiary priest in the Wakefield diocese.

During his time he has worked with many Muslim groups in the area and helped forge a special link with a secondary school in Tanzania.

He will also be remembered for taking part in a 'Calendar Girls'-style charity calendar. A filing cabinet preserved his modesty.

The calendar helped raise hundreds of pounds for local charities.
