A VICTORIAN festival is coming.

Events will be held from November 17 to 20 at the National Coal Mining Museum, near Grange Moor.

Attractions include a Victorian market stall, rag-rugging demonstrations, stories from pit worker Sally Fletcher and family Victorian-inspired art and craft workshops.

Sir James Lister Kaye, pit owner, entrepreneur and Victorian gentleman, will also be a visitor.

The rest of the museum is also open, including an underground tour and the Victorian Gallery, which is showing 1842 - A Faithful Picture.

This shows the lives of the women and children who worked in the mines until they were banned by an Act of Parliament in 1842.

Admission is free and hours are 10am- 5pm daily, except for December 24 to 26 and January 1.
