SHOCKING footage of an armed raid at a Huddersfield car dealership has been released by police.

Birkby based Shak’s Specialist Cars was targeted by two men – one armed with a shotgun and the other with a crowbar or spanner – at 7pm on December 16 last year.

Nearly six months on police have not managed to trace the suspects so they have now released CCTV footage which captured the horror raid.

The video shows the men wearing balaclavas hiding between the luxury sports cars as they sneak into the Birkby Hall Road premises.

The man with a shotgun then rushed up to dealership owner Shak Shah and a group of friends who are sitting on sofas at the back of the room.

The shotgun was pointed at Shak as the robbers shouted and screamed for cash.

Ten seconds later Shak ran out of the premises pursued by the man with the gun.

He locked them in and they ran back to the rear of the premises.

One of Shak’s staff can then be seen running into the room armed with a screwdriver, but he drops it as the raiders sprint towards him with weapons still in hand.

The robbers can be seen panicking and a few seconds later a shotgun blast can be heard as they fire their weapon to blow the padlock off the rear workshop door.

No-one was injured in the raid which lasted less than four minutes, but the robbers, who fled towards Storth Place, escaped with two staff members’ mobile phones.

Speaking the day after the raid last year, Shak told The Examiner how he had dared the shotgun wielding robber to shoot him.

He said: “One came straight to me, into my face and one went to the back office where my worker was and held him up.

“They were shouting, ‘where’s your money?

“I said, ‘I’ve got no money’, but he started bringing me towards my office thinking there was money in it.

“He had the gun pointed a couple of inches away from my chest.

“I said to him, ‘If you’ve got the b**** shoot me, but I haven’t got any money’.

“When I said to him ‘shoot me’ I could see him shaking, he trembled.

“I thought, ‘get the gun’, but at that time I didn’t know the other guy didn’t have a gun.

“It did come into my mind that the gun might not be loaded.”

Shak said at that point the man with the gun joined the other robber in the back office.

Seeing his chance for freedom he sprinted out of the front door and locked the two raiders, his employees and his two guests inside.

“They both chased behind me and I thought I could get shot in the back,’’ he said.

“I went between the cars and I thought if they’re going to fire it would probably hit a car.

“I was lucky because everything was in hand and I just locked it within seconds.”

Detectives have now re-issued their appeal for information about the robbery.

Both men were masked with black balaclavas and both wore grey Adidas hoodies with three white stripes on the arms and dark tracksuit bottoms.

The man with the gun is believed to be white, of athletic or slim build, about 5ft 9ins tall and spoke with a Manchester accent.

The other man was believed to be black, well-built or muscular, and about 6ft 1in tall.

Police are also issuing a further appeal for anyone who saw two people of similar descriptions hanging around the car dealers on Wednesday December 14 between 7pm and possibly 8.30pm.
