OUTLANE children will soon have a new playground to enjoy.

Work is almost complete on the site, which features climbing equipment, slides and soft, safety surfacing.

It has been created by using cash from Kirklees Council's Colne Valley area committee.

Colne Valley councillor and committee chairman Margaret Fearnley visited the playground with Elisabeth Wilson, who will stand for the Liberal Democrats in the Colne Valley at the next election.

Mrs Wilson said: "It is just a case of putting the finishing touches to it. This will give local children somewhere nearby to play and encourage them to enjoy physical exercise.

"It was former councillor David Ridgway and his Liberal Democrat colleagues who pushed for this facility," she added.
